Backpack Goes Dashboard

This is only the beginning in web applications becoming computer applications that run via the internet. For those of you who are new to this blog I’ve labeled this new application interface as Interware. Interware is where applications reside on a person’s computer but the data, and a lot of the backend system resides and is obtained via the internet.
The new Backpack widget is a great example of this concept. Instead of going online to keep track of your reminders, lists, notes, etc. that Backpack offers, you can do it all from the comfort of Dashboard. What is even cooler is that the information that you add still resides via the internet so that you can access your information anywhere while still using Dashboard.
Another interesting web-application that I’ve been keeping an eye on is BlinkSale, you can also check out their blog. BlinkSale is an online invoicing application that is supposed to make invoicing clients easier. I’ll have to wait and see if this is true, since it isn’t out yet. But, this is another web-application that I think is going to (or at least it should) harness the power of Dashboard. Think about this idea for a second. You, the company, post an invoice via Dashboard, which in turn puts it up on the internet. The client, is alerted, from Dashboard, that there is a new invoice for them to take care of. They click the print button and that is all. They pay the bill.
It would be neat if they added Paypal, Credit Card support, or something similar. Then the client could pay the invoice immediately through Dashboard. The possibilities are endless. Anyway, there is and will be an ever increasing market for companies that to develop robust Dashboard Widgets.
