Measure Map Review
Published by ColourMod December 3rd, 2005 in InternetAfter a week or so of using MeasureMap, I’m not so sure that my initial excitement about it was justified, at least in MeasureMap’s Alpha stages. My main problem with it is its lack of statistical detail. While the presentation is beautiful and flawless, I am left wanting to know more. Or maybe I just need to get used to the different outlook on statistics?
So here’s what I like. I love the way that you can quickly and easily select as many or as few days to look at. This is done with Flash and it shows each day as a bar graph. Dragging the slider underneath adds additional days to the data you are looking at.
I love the world map view. This is something that brings life to global statistics. I like being able to see what countries people come from. While this doesn’t really give any new information it is cool to see how spread out visitors are around the world. The downside is that I can only view the top 5 countries as text, the rest I have to hover over them on the map.
Another feature that I like is the time display. This gives a graph, over a certain period of time, of when people visited. This is handy since I can find out when the most active time on my blog is.
There are plenty of other features, but most are the same as other stats programs. I think the main goal of MeasureMap is to allow a non-techy person get a feel for who has been to their website. This definitely would leave the statistic addict wanting more, and maybe that will change in the future.
